| Well inspired by Dots I'm sitting here listening to Gorillaz 'Clint Eastwood' a popular song back in my earlier college days, very laid back, I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it... thanks dots. This should be an interesting entry as most times I have a plan of what I'm about to write but this time I have nothing. Today is a day off for me, and I woke up about an hour ago so that feels good. For some reason my future is coming on, is coming on, is coming on, is coming on... oh it's the song I thought my brain was stuck for a second. Ok, I'm just gonna step right out and ask the hard questions... if you had theme music what would it be. I kind of mean every time you step up to bat at a baseball game, every time you open a door and stoll down the aisle or into a room. What song is playing for the masses to hear when you walk into their space? This is a tough question for me as my taste in music, although I love all of it, is moody. You can't change this song once you pick it, so try to stay away from fads and stuff you just LOOOOOVE now. At first I was thinking a little Zepplin playing some Black Dog, but then the more I thought about it the less I wanted hard classic rock to represent me. As much as I'd love to be percieved as a rockin' kind of guy that you shouldn't mess with, I know I'm not that guy. Yes I realize that I've now taken this from what do you want your song to be to what should your song be but I'm sticking with the latter. Going back to trying to refrain from more recent songs that interest me it makes me try and think of songs I've loved for years that will give a more honest picture of what makes me up now. Then I have to think of my favorite three bands, Zepplin, The Who, and Skynard... yes I'm not a 'rockin kind of guy' but these three did put out some good stuff. I also realized by telling you this you may now think of me as a closed minded classic rock lovin' fool. Well while my 3 favorite bands are classic rock that doesn't mean I don't love all other types of music, because I do... except John Tesh, Yanni, and Enya (my mom subjected me to way to much of those three... mostly enya... as a child) How about 'Who Let the Dogs Out'? I mean the dogs can represent a metaphorical spirit that shows the ASSININE lyrics to the song... of course I wouldn't put that I just wanted to see if you were reading this far. Now I'm thinking of a Will Ferrel sketch where he is Robert Goulay (misspell) the lounge singer and he is singing Who Let the Dogs Out. "Who lets those dogs out, who lets those dogs out, who lets those crazy muts goooooooooo. GOULAY" Man you know what song I wish I could use "Tom Sawyer" from Rush... holy crap that'd be an awesome theme for someone... walk in the door hear that strange noise that starts off the song, but alas Tom Sawyer doesn't apply to me either because what you say about my company is not what you say about society. (2 people got that joke) How about 99 Red Balloons... now don't laugh this song does kind of tell who I am. I'm very random, and I do like german stuff, but I think 99 Luftballoons is way more fun that I actually am. Few are as fun as Nena... and I am not one of them I'm to lazy to be fun sometimes. Ok I've picked out my song and 3 of you are going to have heard it, I'm gonna try to put it as my background music but if I don't I'll probably put 99 red balloons. The song that is most like me and that would play when I enter a room is called Spokey Dokey by Yoko Kanno. This song is one those who watch Cowboy Bebop might here, it's laid back, quirky, has some Texas twang, and comfortable. Those are a few of the larger traits I like to display. So if you haven't heard Spokey Dokey I certainly recommend you do.
Something tells me I'm not gonna be able to find it for the background music.
Hey what do you know, I found it... man I love harmonica.
| Friendship is an rarity, a random occurence of two people being somewhere at the same time... this entry is dedicated to my friends and how I met them and why we work together so well, I'm gonna keep this at people I currently speak to on a regular basis (at least once a month) You won't know anyone on this list more than likely unless you are on this list, if not maybe we can be friends.
Dustin: i met dustin in HS probably my oldest friend that I meets the above criteria. both of us liked to play with our 'bones, trombones that is. i was a year older than him when we met and right away we clicked even though another friend (and nemisis) was trying to keep him from befriending me. this is someone that knows things no other human knows, like what a cuss cuss is doing on jack hanna's head (and I won't tell you) although we dont' talk as much now as we used to if i ever had a severe problem i'd go to him. he's gonna marry an amazing girl next year and I wish him the best at that and know they will succeed in life. It's been jibbity.
Troy: i met troy my freshman year at A&M and he didn't like me, but i had a huge meal plan and fed him dr. pepper and snickers for many weeks and he eventually warmed up. the next semester we were in a class together, business math 142 i believe (i got a b). the next semester we had three classes together. frisbee, music, philosophy. i really think it's philosophy that kept us as good of friends as we are, we talked philosophy for hours before tests figuring out what the other thought on deep subjects such as 'free will' (btw i don't believe humans have free will... that should spark some conversation) he's my roomate now and even though i don't see him as much it's all good because i know he, just like dustin and everyone else on this list, has my back.
mLife: met mike (aka mLife) in FL the last two days of my first disney internship, we figured out we had pretty much everything in common in those two days and talked online (he lived in PA at the time) for the next 3 years before meeting up again at Disney World for another internship. if i could think of a story with a weird ending he'd be the one to guess the ending as his mind is probably the closest to mine. i've seen him go from a meat eating, smoking, drinking, fool to a vegan (now vegetarian) buddhist. now he's just a fool for not eating delicious meat and for not living in TX.
Natalie: my girlfriend is also my friend and i feel that is a very important thing to have in a relationship. i can be myself around her which is nice and as it should be. we met during a class in college where she smelled of 'cat shit and carpet cleaner' and i fell for her then. she has a big heart and cares greatly for others (especially animals) her patience wears thin often but sometimes it's cute. much like others in my family she is a worrier which is something i am not. it's interesting to hear some of the conversations we have since we have such a different outlook on so many things. her family is awesome and a few of them made this list. (i didn't put anything mushy on here because this is why she's a friend not a girlfriend)
Dots: victoria (aka dots) to put it simply she gets me. dots is natalie's sister but that's not how i view her. a lot of boyfriends have the girlfriend and then oh yeah her sister if she wants to come along. dots is my friend first then her sister and has been for a while now. we obviously met when natalie and i first got together (at a bon jovi concert actually) i don't think i really clicked with her until we started watching baseball at natalie's apartment whenever nat was still at work (she's actually the reason i watch now) dots and i have a similiar mind frame on many things which we usually use against natalie, but what are boyfriends and sisters for. she's refreshing to see when so many others are cookie cutter teenagers at her age.
Katon and Koby: the only reason these two are not seperate entries is because i don't get to spend as much time with them as i'd like. katon is awesome as he puts me in my place sometimes but always nicely (reminds me of my grandfather actually) he's a down to earth guy who realizes the importance of what he has. he drives a van. (i really wanted that to be a sentence by itself, it amuses me) he, much like his younger brother koby, walks around with me at the fiddle fest while so much tom n jerry is going on inside. it's nice to walk around with them as we don't get to talk much. there is never an awkward silence with either as they both hold the same sense of humour i do. they both also like crappy horror movies which is always good in my book. koby as stated before is katon's younger brother who is obsessed with basketball. even though he likes all the wrong teams (my opinion) this kid is sharp. i don't think i've ever met someone as young but as quick witted as he is, and he always can make others laugh. as said before he loves basketball and will soon realize that i suck and the only reason i'm so good now is because i'm way taller. (i actually once had a 9 year old kid school me at basketball but i beat him just because of height... he freakin hit a fade away jumper on me) anyway both katon and koby are good with younger kids which makes them even cooler that they don't just blow them off, very respectable folk.
Jim: jim is weird. jim is loyal. jim makes me laugh probably more than most anyone at the present moment. jim also will argue with me (about sports) more than anyone at the present moment. i can't tell you how much work would suck without jim (it wouldn't suck enough to quit but he makes it really really fun to work there instead of just fun) i met him at college the same time i met nat... infact he helped get us together which is another reason he's on this list.
Marc: i've seen mark maybe 5 times total, 4 of those times being when i took his older sister home from A&M to katy or just stopped by to say hi. marc and i talk online a lot and if i had to pick someone that would get all of my daily observations and jokes it'd be him. i'm not sure what got us to talking unless it was a frisbee invite one day, it's really weird how you can befriend someone and then later down the road be closer with their sibling... works for me though as he usually gets me laughing at least once a conversation. this is another real down to earth person (actually i'm noticing all of these people are, that probably says something) even though i probably know less about marc than anyone else on this list i could easily start a conversation about anything with him and have it feel like i've known him for years.
i have a whole other host of friends but as stated before these are the ones i interact with the most, if i included the others this would take way to long and i've already stayed up way to late (it's past 10 am) so i hope you enjoy this synopsis on people you've never met. aufornow.
| WHOOOOOOOP!!!! In only 21 days 23 min and 50 seconds from when I typed this sentence I will be enjoying Fightin' Texas Aggie Football. Now for those of you who don't appreciate or understand the importance of this to me allow me to try to explain; but as they say about many things at A&M "from the outside looking in you can't understand it, from the inside looking out you can't explain it." A&M is a culture that in many ways has died in America in my idea. It's common practice there for guys to hold open doors for girls, and common chivalry is still alive and well. This post is about football though, where you and 82,500 of your closest friends go to Kyle Field to watch mortal combat on the Aggie designed grass below. Maroon paint transfers on the helmets of the unsuspecting enemy to match their maroon bruises that have been left all over their bodies. Everyone becomes friends at an A&M game, the guy next to you is your brother and the girl he's with is your sister as you all sway together for the War Hymn. The student section yelling their asses off, standing the entire duration of the game never to boo their own players as so many other schools do. The pagentry that goes with a game, a maroon sea of people working in unison to befuddle and crush the opposing team. The traditions unfolding before your eyes as Rev stands on the sidelines with the yell leaders, as the cannon goes off with each score along with dates mugging down. The Spirit of Aggieland can be heard all over campus and goosebumps run down my neck as I sit and listen to it now. Texas A&M football is more than just another sport to me, it's, really something one must experience to get the full grasp. I haven't always been like this, I used to hate A&M as a university and everything about it but my mind was changed at an A&M football game. Here's to Aggie Football, hope to see you there.

| My swans it's been a long time since I've written. My grandmother says 'my swans' whenever she's taken aback by something... I'm not quite sure why, maybe it's something I'll understand when I'm older. Old people say the coolest things, and we all know atleast one old, or older person that says stuff that we wish was said more nowdays. My grandfather used to say Howdy Do, not just 'howdy' but the full phrase Howdy Do (for those unfamiliar with the Texan vernacular Howdy Do is short for How Do You Do.) Few people use the full phrase, myself included. Howdy, even though it's what I say, what I'm called, and what i preach, is an incomplete sentence unless the Do is just understood; but I'm not so sure it is. Odd that I started an entry on this subject and those are the only two that I can think of at the moment. That's what staying up 24 hours will do for you, it'll kill yer brain. I'm staying up that long to get back on my schedule of working nights. On my days off I try to have normal hours (why I'm not sure) so when that first day of work arrives I have to trick my body back into sleeping from 9-5. You can read more about my job in the book that this excerpt came from "The Manahan Behind The Mask" Wow even my humour is lame at this time of morning. The world has no idea how excited I am about football season being here, mainly college football. I have my season tickets for my A&M games, I got someone in the seat next to me for all those games... life is good. I have a pretty good idea for an entry for a later date but it'll have to wait until I realize how to properly do it.Until then, listen to one of my favorite monty python songs... and realize that problems are such a small spec in the scheme of things, why should you let it get you down? | | |
